Tweet - this seemed over the top at first glance. I am not that obessesive, however on second and third pass evaluation, Twitter may aleviate certain blogging issues among other things. Often the challenge is blog block and delayed posts. Concidering Tweets can only be 140 characters, posting should be easy- and it is of course. So here goes.

Goal setting first key.
What are your goals - Awareness? Perception? Boost sales? Leads? Relationships?
And our mantra at Design World- ‘measurable results’. You must be able to measure the Outcomes, and be sure to assign the right measurement to the metric. With social media, all the typical metrics may not apply. New Outcomes must be evaluated over metrics in most cases.
Must have strategy. Concider all channels.
How is your company going to interact?
Blogging, podcasts are not strategies. They are means.
Your brand may not be the users friend. Align company perhaps to tangent group/ community.

For two days I’ll be immersed in a seminar on search, enews and social media. This is coming via iPhone & will cover highlights as much as possible.
First off - Social Media- most jam packed.
Highlights on starting in social media. Key points:
Start small
Vision statement/ mission- (take with grain of salt) but goal and planning is key.
CONTENT
Simple, concrete, credible, emotional, story.
Use google keywords/ search to find what people are tuning into. Create the networks around terms that have the highest audiences. Example - the term student loan is much better than ‘pay for college’.
Requires lots of time and resources. Need to have passion.
Service- be the expert in your field- help people and be open.

Leadership is Measurable

Design World Magazine has won 2 design awards- one national award from the ASBPE for best new publication design and the other from APEX for best new design and layout. We also finished our BPA audit requirements in June and are riding huge momentum from our successful Design Tips video and print program, Project Mechatronics, MakePartsFast, and upcoming 3DCADTIPs re-launch and scores of other tools and technology platforms for both the engineer and the marketer.
We’ve already mentioned Folio 40 - as Mike and Scott were named to the 2008 Folio 40 - most prestigious list of 40 most influential leaders in the magazine industry. And our Folio feature on our January 2008 issue as a 2008 start-up success story.
So a quick pause to enjoy the awards and accomplishments. We appreciate all the support from our customers, vendors, colleagues, friends and family and will continue to be the fastest growing design engineering publications and digital network resource on the market.
